Walking and Talking: Why Simple Walks Can Transform Your Marriage

We all go on walks, whether we call it a walk or not; walking is what we do as human beings. Unless, of course, those of you who physically cannot walk on your own, or at all, your mind does the walking for you! Walking is our body’s way of transportation, whether physically or mentally. Walking can be very helpful to relationships with others and even to our individual relationships with ourselves. Walking has been a huge benefit to our marriage and our family bond.

How Often Do We Go On Walks?

Ethan and I used to go on walks almost every night when we were going to college over in Rexburg, Idaho. We would walk in the cold, the hot, the rain, the snow. If it was too hot, too cold, or super bad weather in general, we typically would take our walk indoors. Thankfully, at the school we were attending at that time, BYU-I, they had a huge indoor track where we could go walking without the weather being an issue. During this time, we were able to talk about anything and everything on our minds, things that happened during the day, things we planned for in the future, and things we wanted to accomplish together.
