The Mom, Wife, Dream Life

The daily life of a mom, wife, and individual.

  • With Christmas coming to a close and the year 2025 ending, I feel it’s more important than ever to draw closer to God. To come unto him, to embrace His words, and to fill our whole souls, lives, homes, and families with His light, His Gospel, and His example.

How is it that when Christmas time comes around, we are somehow reminded of our Savior’s love and his great sacrifice and gift he has given us? Why are we not focusing and being reminded of that every day of our lives? Or, how can we share that with our significant others, our loved ones, and our children if we are experiencing that reminder each day?

How Can We Help Our Children Share Their Testimonies of Jesus Christ?

If we expect our children to gain, grow, or even share their testimonies, we must be gaining a testimony of our own, actively growing it each opportunity we can get, and sharing it with them in the first place. Sharing Bible Stories with our children creates the bonding opportunity we all need to grow our relationships as a family, and closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

How do we do this, though, as parents? Of course, it all comes down to each parent and each child, too. What works for one parent might not work for another parent or their child. You could set up a specific day to read a story from the Bible, watch an age-appropriate video that explains the lesson, create a picture book to read together, or color a printout of a Bible story. Parenting comes in waves, with some days being easy and other days being extremely challenging, but regardless, each of those days ends with gratitude and love.

These Bible Stories that we are teaching our children create special memories for them. I hope that someday they look back and remember where their testimonies began, where their faith in God first started, and I hope those Bible Stories we share have something to do with that memory. The Bible is the word of God. If we believe that as parents, then it is our job, our duty, and our responsibility to teach them that.

What Can Help In This World Today?

In a world so full of hate, anger, discontentment, negativity, and the influence of Satan, we need the Bible in our lives and in our hearts, minds, and souls. It needs to encourage us, not discourage us. Though we are not yet perfect in this lifetime, we have the chance and opportunity to become better and improve who we are now for the benefit of our later lives and our children’s lives and futures.

Why not teach the Bible to our kids? It has good lessons, good stories, and ways to connect people in ways that are sometimes hard to explain. If anything, it offers basic lessons that teach our children how to live in the world with values and morals.

Some of our favorite books that help us teach our girls about the Bible are ones we found by chance. I will share them with you so you can read them for yourselves, or share them with your child/children.

All of these books have helped us explain the stories and experiences of Jesus from the Bible very easily. Sometimes we need to expand on them to help our girls understand more fully, but reading them together as a family opens up the opportunity for questions, for answers, and discussions about God, Christ, and the Gospel.

Is It Hard to Share Stories From the Bible with other People?

Sharing bible stories doesn’t need to be hard; it doesn’t need to feel like a chore. It can be fun, simple, and still full of great testimony-building opportunities. Faith comes in many forms; it doesn’t have to be complex. Oftentimes, faith is simple, easy to understand, and brings a peaceful feeling. Faith starts from an open mind and a willing heart, more often than not, that will be a young child who desires to learn, grow, and progress. Or, maybe it’s you. Maybe you want to learn, grow, and progress just like any child does, I know I do. I want to learn as much as I can, grow in ways I never knew would be possible for me, and progress so much that I am proud of who I have become, who I am, and who I have been.

I want to be the Mom, Wife, and individual that my family needs to learn the stories of Jesus, learn His Gospel, His plan, and His sacrifice. I want to lead by example and have the increasing urge and desire to draw closer to God by studying the Bible, studying the Book of Mormon, and other related scriptures and doctrine. My example, my husband’s example, and the example we have together will benefit our children and help them to not only learn and understand the Bible, but it will help them live it, experience it, and create those values and morals that shape them as individuals.

This is why sharing and reading the Bible with our children is so important. It is critical to their well-being, their spiritual growth, and their progress towards eternal life.

What Books, Stories, and References do you use to teach, study, and understand the Bible?

I would love to find more resources and things to help my personal studies, my relationship studies with my husband, and my family’s studies!
