The Kids Were Listening More Than Watching

Have you ever said something and instantly gone quiet, fearing that little ears had heard you? Perhaps you were enjoying a random evening as a family, and your child comes up to you and says something completely out of the blue. Don’t worry, we’ve been there too!

Having our child repeat something we’ve said really makes us question what is being said in our household. Do we say things that are kind and respectful towards other people? Or do we shame and judge other people behind the closed doors of our home? We really try to be kind, loving, and honest people. Of course, we have our faults. Everyone does, but our words are one thing in this life that we can control. Our words matter, whether we see that or not. Are my words loving towards myself? Do our little girls hear us being confident and body-positive about ourselves, or do they hear the self-deprecating things we think about our own bodies? It makes me sad to think that our girls could hear me feeling sad about my body, and that’s not something I want them to ever feel for themselves.

Author: The Mom, Wife, Dream Life Blog

I am a young mom to two little beauties, and the wife to an admirable man. I have many dreams in life that I want to someday achieve. I'm quirky, quiet, and shy, at least until you get to know me, then I could talk your ear off. I'm talented, but don't like to say that straight out as it makes me feel more confident than I am. I am looking to grow as an individual, a loving wife, a supportive mother, and socially with others. If you are someone looking to find yourself, or looking to find someone like you, I'm your gal. Let's be friends, get to know me, and I can't wait to get to know you!
