The Day I Realized I Had to Slow Down as a Parent

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “Going a million miles an hour.” This phrase is the best way to sum up adulthood, especially concerning parenting. Parenting feels like the greatest blessing and gift ever, but the type of gift that never slows down, even when it feels like it needs to. I feel like I’m always running like a chicken without a head regarding my everyday life and activities.

As a mom of two little girls, I am always on the go, moving around, changing positions, and coming up with bizarre activities, games, and imaginative stories. No matter what I am doing or plan on doing in one day, I always have a little helper with me. Being a mom is the best job ever. I wouldn’t dream of anything more fulfilling and rewarding than starting a family with your best friend and eternal companion. I often forget just how rewarding it is, and find it to be a blessing in disguise on those fast and hard days.

Is Parenting Enjoyable?

I won’t beat around the bush and say that parenting is always super fun and enjoyable. It definitely has its moments of frustration and confusion. The days when your toddler seems to be having a rough day, and everything seems to be going wrong in her eyes. It’s sad as a parent; it’s not easy to see your babies so upset. Not to mention their little brains are not fully developed yet, and it’s hard for them to understand why things happen. Their brains are still trying to self-regulate their emotions and learn how to control those intense feelings.
