The Mom, Wife, Dream Life

The daily life of a mom, wife, and individual.

It’s good to be back! After taking that quick little break from posting and sharing, I’ve taken up a new opportunity that I’m excited about. Before we jump into that, though, let’s talk about opportunities themselves.

What Are Opportunities?

Opportunities are a set of circumstances that make it possible to do something. They are so important because ultimately, they are the choices we get to make every day throughout our lives. Do you want the doughnut for breakfast or the egg sandwich? Do you want to study nursing or musical theatre? Whatever you decide, make sure that it’s what you believe will benefit you and help you to grow in more ways than one. The opportunities we are given each day are not always good things. Some opportunities may be good, but might not be best for you, right now, at this point in your life.

For example, when I made the choice, or the opportunity to pause my schooling for the time being. Continuing my education wasn’t the right or wrong choice. I think I just needed to make the choice that was going to benefit me and my family the most. I chose to pause my growing education. I used the word pause, because I’m not stopping; I simply took a break, a pause, an opportunity to focus my attention on something else. I do plan on returning to school. I plan to return when I can give it the attention it needs for me to learn and complete my degree promptly. My attention needed and still needs to be towards my husband and our children. I need them to know that they are my priorities. Yes, schooling is important, but it’s not everything. School isn’t going to raise my kids for me. School is not going to last forever, but my family will.

Was it Worth Pausing School for a Little Bit?

I took this opportunity to be with my husband and my children, being fully committed to them instead of a class, or attaining a certain grade or GPA. My opportunity has been to raise and teach our children, to be with them when they are happy, sad, angry, and scared, to play with them by building the tallest tower out of blocks, tracing our hands with crayons, or rocking all the baby dolls to sleep.

I get to be present in their lives because of this opportunity. I get to give my attention to Ethan in the evenings when he gets home from work, instead of worrying about that next test, stressing about the material, or focusing too much on getting my degree. I get to be present in his life because I took this opportunity to do so. What a blessing it’s been to be able to feel happier, feel like I have a purpose in life, and feel like I can breathe without the fear of failing another class.

What has changed in my Life?

My focus has changed, and the opportunity has proven time and time again that it was the best choice for me at this time in my life. It may not be the same opportunity for you, perhaps it is, if so… What will you choose? How will you make that choice? Will the choice you pick better you, or hold you back? In other words, will it shape you or keep you from becoming the person you want to be, and the person God wants you to be?

I’ve had multiple opportunities in my life, some I’ve intentionally sought out, while others simply appeared. The ones I have sought out are usually the ones that I want to have. Opportunities that wouldn’t be there unless I had a desire to have them. For example, starting my blog. Sure, blogging has always been a thing, and I could have found something else to please my writing, but blogging was something I had heard about, and I dove a bit deeper into researching it before deciding it was something I wanted to pursue. We all come across opportunities every day that we normally wouldn’t think about as opportunities, but I encourage you, try to think of it that way, and see how your thinking or attitude towards something changes or shifts.

What Big Opportunities are Happening in my Life?

I have had two opportunities lately to be a brand ambassador for a few companies. The first one that I have is with Amazon. If you want good recommendations for things to purchase from Amazon, or are curious what I’ve bought, I’ve shared a bunch of things throughout my blogs. I like to share things that we have purchased that have been incredibly beneficial to our health, home improvement, necessities, and some fun things to enjoy as a family. One of the things we’ve recently bought back on Prime Day was Collagen Peptides. They are so good for your body and give you that extra boost for your hair, skin, nails, bones, and joint health. It’s unflavored, so we would recommend mixing it in with a flavor packet of your choice. We’ve been adding a little bit of heavy cream to it as well to give it a little “dirty soda” type of drink. It’s yummy when added to both a drink flavor packet and some heavy cream.

I used to be a brand ambassador for a company called Stayitk, which stands for Stay In The Know. It’s a skincare company that has been developed and tested by the influential twin sisters, Brooklyn and Bailey. Their gentle soaps and creams keep your face feeling smooth, shiny, and cleansed. I enjoy their products, and though I am no longer an ambassador for them, I would still highly recommend their products!

The last company that I am currently taking the opportunity to be a brand ambassador for is a Christian-based Jewelry company called AMADI Jewelry. Amadi is an African-origin name that means rejoice! I’m super excited for this opportunity to share the love of God through jewelry. I am a jewelry lover, a blingy girl, and a diamond is a girl’s best friend at heart. I love all the sparkles, jewels, gold, silver, everything. I’m almost always wearing at least one necklace, three rings, and small studs. I like to switch it up here and there, but I’m usually always wearing some kind of jewelry.

What a great way to worship God, to think about Jesus throughout the day, and to share that I am a Disciple of Christ as I wear a piece of gospel inspired jewelry that is beautiful on the outside as well as the meaning behind it. If you want some Christian-based jewelry and want to show a little bling, I’ve got a 10% coupon code that you can use on any of the jewelry on their site, just use this code: SANDERS04 at checkout! Or if you simply just want my referral link, here it is for you: https://amadijewelry.com/?ref=sanders.

What Have I Learned from my Brand Ambassador Deals?

These opportunities have been beneficial for me to learn what I am capable of doing, and how I can use those opportunities to better myself and my drive to succeed. I haven’t quite figured out exactly how I am going to share all of my links and such with all of you and the rest of my social friends, but I’m slowly getting there!

As Eminem would put it:

“Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity

To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment

Would you capture it or just let it slip?

Better go capture this moment and hope it don’t pass him

The moment you own it, you better never let it go

You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow

This opportunity comes once in a lifetime

So here I go, it’s my shot, feet, fail me not

This may be the only opportunity I got

You can do anything you set your mind to.”

What Should I Learn From My Opportunities in Life?

If you are given an opportunity, and there are lots of growth, new beginnings, and improvements that you know will follow, why not try and find out? Sometimes we take the opportunity, and it drastically changes, becoming nothing like what we wanted or expected. That happens, and if it does, find another opportunity to either change and help the current one you took, or find another opportunity to take that gets you back on sturdy, solid ground that builds you up instead of tears you down.

You are not defined by what life throws at you; it’s how you react, conquer, and move through it that makes you the person you are and want to become.

What opportunities are in your new horizons? What opportunity are you taking or working on right now to better yourself as a human being?

“Your comfort zone may be cozy, but opportunity awaits outside of it.”
